Flying God please layoff it a little!

Today I walk outside after a long and hard day at school deciding to relieve my stress by landing a couple times at my airport by myself. Now if only it was that easy, I got some gas in my car and called the flight school to see if the plane was taken for today….. They didn’t know. So I called the AWOS to see if it was windy today, it was flying weather! I was finally relieved of the 1 and a half week hold on flying due to wind. So I waited a little while and decided to call and see if it was a go. The receptionist was not currently at the airport and lived about 45 minutes away and in order for me to fly she had to be there to dispatch. HMMMM….. I didn’t want to make her drive all the way to my airport for just me so I said I would find another time to fly.

I don’t know why the Flying god all of a sudden put a curse on Ohio’s weather but I’m getting very frustrated! My goal was to get my license by the end of May and even that goal doesn’t seem achievable and it makes me sad just thinking of not being able to do so. So  I’m sitting here with about 43 hours needing only solo time till I am ready to go. But as things look now I may be writing this same post a year from now.

Until Next Time,

Night Cross Country- Fun Times

Alright, I know its been a long time since my last post but being busy with sports and flight training prevents me from blogging. I managed to slip away from my busy life to talk to all you guys about the wonderful night cross country I had last night. I planned the flight from KFDY to KDAY to KAOH then back to KFDY. We started out at about at 9:30ish and began the journey to my required night hours. As we contacted the Toledo Approach to get flight following we turned to a magnetic course of 207 degrees to go via direct to Dayton James Cox Int. Airport. A brisk 40 minutes later we were on the straight in option for runway 18.  We landed and ended up doing 3 more landings at Dayton before heading over to Allen County Airport. As I set up for the direct flight to Allen County my flight instructor said that we would go to Celina Lakefront (CQA) instead. He did this to see how I would handle re-routing in the air while flying the airplane. To admit, its not easy. But when your in a situation of multi tasking in the cockpit always remember…. Fly the Airplane. So that’s what I did I soon figured all the numbers and headed over to CQA. We did 3 more landings there and set up to go home to KFDY.

Overall I put a good 3.2 hours on the skyhawk and loved every minute of it. Including the night cross country that raks my hours up to about 35 or more. We decided to make my solo cross country the same route and it’ll be fun to say the least. With regard to the next podcast I cant specify when it will be done but it is in the makings to be great. I hope you enjoy my blog and until next time,

Pilot Ian

Been a Long Time

Sorry fellow readers for the long while since the last time I have posted. Due to many activities starting up this last month I havent had much free time to write. Since last time I have posted I have been going to the airport with my flight instructor to practice and study for my oral exam. Soon though we will be hitting all my cross country flights and get those out of the way. Im now realizing how close May is approaching and it is nerve raking and exciting at the same time. I have wanted to take passengers on flights for a while now and cant wait to do so. While flying by yourself is fun it isn’t quite as fun as sharing aviation with others. That is about it for my flight adventures so far, studying isn’t that fun to write about.

Private Pilot Written Time

As the count down to my private pilot written exam grows near I hope to god I do well. Although I have control over how much I study I still, even though studing for hours upon hours feel unprepaired for my written exam (February 26, 2010). I think this is mainly due to nerves for even though if I were to get 100% on practice exams I would still feel nervous because when you step into that room you dont know which questions will be asked, if it where that easy everyone would do it. Honestly, though sounding silly the only section I struggle on is weather. Reading the charts for some reason is not as easy as one may assume, well at least for me.

I think that with one week until my written I will takle one section each day no matter how long it takes me. I personally feel that what I recieve on this will greatly impact the rest of my aviation life.

Until Next Time,
Ian

**Note** –  ”My Flight Journey” Podcast Episode 3 Topic will most likely be about the differance in Military Training and Civilian Training, with interviews from both views.

I cant waite to see what Word Press has to offer and will be sure to find out.
