My Pilot Flight Bag

When I go flying, there are a handful of tools, products, and supplies that I have remained strict about keeping in my pilot flight bag. Here is a comprehensive list of the stuff I use and love.

Technology & Aviation Apps

ForeFlight

I have been using ForeFlight for a few years now. Coming from a time when I learned strictly on paper charts… ForeFlight changed the game for consolidating all of the heavy charts, books, and procedures into one very robust app that I use on my iPad Mini.

FlightAware

I love using FlightAware when I creep on flights that my friends or family are on. Even more so, I can see how the airlines fly their routes and it is an educational tool to me.

LiveATC.net

When I’m on the go and in a place where having my Yaesu transceiver isn’t practical, sometimes I open up LiveATC app and listen to nearby ATC channels. It’s nerdy.

light speed zulu headset

To be honest, the Lightspeed Zulu is still one of my favorite aviation headsets and I have had it since practically day one. Lightspeed makes quality stuff, and my headset is no exception. Since getting it in 2008, 8 years later it still looks and functions like new.

Classic Flight Bag

My friend Paul started a company a few years back creating the highest quality pilot flight bags on the market. Although they aren’t around anymore, the flight bag that I have from them is still in great condition and it is a highlight to my flight experience.

iPad Mini

When it comes to navigating and running ForeFlight, I choose to use the iPad Mini because it is the perfect size for the cockpit.

RAM Claw Yoke Mount for iPad Mini 1-3

I decided to go with the Claw Yoke mount when using my iPad Mini in the cockpit. All you do is easily clamp the mount to the closest area of the yoke and then you can adjust how the iPad falls in front of it. This is the perfect location to have all your information at a glance.

GoPro Hero 3+ Silver Full Disclosure: We earn a commission if you click this link and make a purchase, at no additional cost to you.

I rarely go anywhere flying without first bringing with me my GoPro to capture the moment.

As seen here:

Highly recommend GoPro’s. It’s hard to go wrong here for in-flight video work.

NFlightCam+ Suction Cup Mount & Audio Hookup Full Disclosure: We earn a commission if you click this link and make a purchase, at no additional cost to you.

When flying myself, I use the NFlightCam+ suction cup mount and Audio hookup. It does the job.
